Police Line, Do Not Cross!

Crime1

Campers are investigating the scene of a crime at ESF this afternoon as part of the CSI Forensics course offered through The Center for Growth and Innovation (CGI). After learning about the process that Crime Scene Investigators go through when they are given a new scene, campers divvied up the workload and got right to it.

First, each camper used grid paper to make a rough sketch of the scene so that they could identify where each piece of evidence laid. Then, one camper used a digital camera to photograph the scene from each angle along with every piece of evidence. Once each camper was finished surveying the premises, they worked together to measure the distance between each piece of evidence and the main subject.

Campers will take their clues back to the classroom and deduce a theory for why this poor crime scene victim is face-down on the sidewalk. They’ve got a great start!
