The campers in Animal Advocates prepared for the past two weeks to attend an overnight field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo. Every day, educators from the zoo have visited ESF to teach the campers about various types of animals. The main focus of the class is to learn about endangered species, specifically the red panda. Each day the educators bring animals for the campers to encounter and learn fun facts about, it is always the best part of the day.
After camp yesterday, the campers had a pizza party before boarding the bus to head out to the zoo. They got behind the scenes tours of the zoo and several animal encounters. The room they slept in had several animal enclosures with nocturnal animals. Today, campers are doing more tours of the zoo and then coming back to camp! The zoo sleepover is definitely a highlight of the summer for our campers.
